I am descended from an Edward English born around 1818 in Tipperary and died 25/11/1866 in Gundagai. He could have been a younger brother, don't know. His parents were John English and Mary Marney?

Thanks for your responses-both on the one day when I had heard nothing for almost two years!
Janilye, I have Ellen Boyd's death in Wollongong in 1863. From circumstantial evidence I think she is "mine" but I am not 100% sure. You mention she was nee English. I would be very interested in the info which supports the nee English.
Phil,I have nothing on Ellen's siblings or parents. I will use your info on Edward his parents John English and Mary Marney (Mahony?). Do you have any more info on any of those three?

Dear Graham, I couldn't find any other Ellen Boyd's in Wollongong and surrounds so I took an educated guess as you did when you gathered the death certificate, I did see the notices for intestate estate papers for AN Ellen Boyd assuming she is your Ellen English.

[also published in the Sydney Morning Herald on the 2 Sept. 1864 and again on the 21 September;

Ellen Boyd, Wollongong-;. Paid, ?19 14s Gd ; to credit of estate ?10 4s lid. Date of order to collect, 3rd August, 1868.]

I don't see any other Ellen Boyd's dying in Wollongong around that time and if the above is your Ellen Boyd nee English with that sort of money she may have owned property so a search of deeds and titles are in order.
The Intestate Estate Papers are available through the State Records the number is 6/3566
These papers usually give date of birth and death. and if you sre lucky perhaps a bit more.
