Looking for Ellen Moroney Ireland
Need some info on Ellen Moroney (Ireland) who emigrated to New Plymouth New Zealand (married to William Fleming). Trying to find origin in Ireland as well as other general info on my great great Grandmother
Can you give some dates for birth, immigration, etc?
I have a 3x great grandmother who was a MORONEY, but due to inconsistant spelling or pronunciation was recorded at various times as MUROONEY, MARONEY, and MULROONEY.
She and her family originated in Bansha, Tipperary, Ireland, in the 1830's to 1840's. There are a number of family members that travelled to Australia in the late 1850's, early 1860's, including an Ellen (not your Ellen).
My MORONEY's may not be directly related, but may be connected somewhere along the line.
Hi and thanks for your response! I really am struggling with finding records of Ellen Moroney but have a family member who believes Ellen was born in Ireland December 1872. Her father apparently was William Maroney. Sorry but nothing further as yet! I also understand that 'my Ellen' was born in Tipperary however as I say,I'm finding it very difficult to substantiate any of this. The only other hint I can offer is that they may have emigrated to New Zealand around 1901??
on family search there is an ellen moroney,born 13th december 1872,fathers name is william,mothers is mary mcmahon.a few ellens from tipperary in the 1901 irish census but none that would be of her age group.
