The Eteson family name was started in mid 1700's by William Edeson. He was a butcher, landowner in KNARESBOROUGH North Yorkshire the family had recently moved there from Riply, and he changed his name because there was already a William Edeson in the town.
Eteson is pronounced as EATson.
The Edeson family was from the Ripley area and have been traced back to 1550.
The earliest reference of the name is a Robertus Edeson in Subsidy Rolls (Poll Tax) for the year 1379 in Killinghall in the Ripley parish
