There were 2 Thomas and Augusta cooper one being in Otaki and one in Napier. I just don't know who went with whom.
But there were 6 children in my family as far as I can ascertain.
I am trying to get back before Augusta. She was born in Nelson but neither of her parents were named Kreig.
It gets interesting.

Evening Post, 23 August 1916 - Mr and Mrs Krieg who are very old residents of Havelock, Marlborough, recently celebrated their golden wedding at their residence, when a large number of family members and friends were present. Mr and Mrs Krieg were married in 1866 and arrived at Wellington in 1867, and finally settled in Havelock, early in the 'seventies, where they have resided ever since. Mr and Mrs Krieg's family consisted of five daughters and one son, all married, there being twenty-four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The old couple are in excellent health.
The weather was beautiful for the occasion of the celebration and there were about thirty guests present, all old friends of the family.
The rooms were decorated with red, white, and blue, and the tables with golden-coloured flowers, the flags of the Allies holding a prominent position in the centre of the table. There were two wedding cakes; one was given by their grandson, Archie Cooper, and the other was brought from Australia.
The Rev Mr Heron kindly officiated, giving a short address, and making reference to the high esteem in which Mr and Mrs Krieg were held by the community. Then he made the presentations, which were in the form of two beautifully bound combined church prayer-books and a silver cake dish, suitably inscribed, form the parishioners, and a purse of sovereigns from the family, also many other gifts.
Mr Gorrie proposed the health of the happy couple and family, the Rev Mr Heron proposed the health of the Kin, and Mrs Sharp (youngest daughter) responded on behalf of the parents and family.
The occasion ended with the singing of the doxology and the National Anthem.
The surviving children are:
Mrs Jordan, Wellington
Mrs Le Tacon, Sydney
Mrs Cooper, Upper Hutt
Mr Krieg, Wellington
Mrs Sharp, Sydney
JOHANNA DOROTHEA Krieg died 9 May 1921 in Havelock, Marlborough
CARL THEODOR Krieg died in Lakemba, New South Wales in 1928

Wow, that is completely different to what the family thinks. For some reason the "History" has become secret. I am 67 and only just found out my grandfather Archy [or Archie] Sinclair Cooper had more that one sibling. He died in Palmerston North in 1939 and was a baker there and owned the Huntley and Cooper bakery. But 9 siblings?
My parents are both gone now and there are no relations of this generation left.
Thanks very much. Where did you come up with this information?

Regards Peter Cooper

hello Peter,
I see you have your grandmother as Minnie Evelyn nee Karsten, formerly Huntley
In fact she was born Minnie Evelyn Huntley in 1899. Her parents were James Edward HUNTLEY & Minnie Maud GOODING
the children of JAMES & MINNIE were:
1897 - 1968 Maud Elizabeth Sarah Huntley
1898 - Arthur Edward Huntley
1899 - 1986 Minnie Evelyn Huntley
1905 - 1928 Lilian Clara Huntley
1909 - 1985 Eileen Ellen Huntley

Minnie married Frederick Peter Karsten after the death of Archie
they lived at 16 Rawhiti Ave, Palmerston North
Frederick was born 25 Oct 1908 and died 19 June 1985 in Awapuni Hospital

His parents were Frederick Hans August (who changed the Hans to Ernest I think) & Christina KARSTEN

gee...
wish I didn't have to leave for work
Just found that your great grandmother, Minnie Maud Gooding was 1 of 16 children.
Your great great grandparents were:
Jacob Henry GOODING & Sarah Anne BURLING
You will see I have a lot on them

peter_j_cooper

Well I had a great time going back through your stuff and I got lot's of leads. For your records, Archy Sinclair Cooper married Minnie Huntley and they moved to Palmerston North and had the bakery there called Huntley and Cooper. They had two children Jack Edward and Nola. Nola was married 3 times and had three children being Pamela [later adopted by Minnie and Fred Karsten] Gay Bell [townsville] and Karen McCluskey [Christchurch]
JAck Edward married Olga Esma Wolf and had me, Peter Jack Cooper. I married Linda Judith Roach from Otaki and we have two Children Tony JAck Cooper and Lee Judith Wallis. Lee has a son Sean Jack.
That should help you add a few more.
You any detail of the Crozier's or Pugh's from Southland?
