Looking for Forgie families with connections to Northern Ireland

Query by curly

I am researching my mothers family lines. I am trying to trace two Forgie families one in the USA and another in Canada.
Two of my grandmother's brothers.

John Forgie emigrated to Chicago Illinois in 1921 and is in the 1930 USA CENSUS as living in the area of the Stock yards Chicago, herein is my problem I have hit the brickwall and i am having no luck tracing the family after that date.

David Forgie emigrated to Ontario Canada with his wife and daughters in 1928. I have been able to trace his burial to Chatham township Wallaceburg, but as with his brother John, it is very difficult to trace them, in fact I have not!!!!!!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and I would reciprocate with assistance in Northern Ireland look ups etc.

Here's hoping !!!!!!!!!

Dear Curly, Hi there. If you click on FORGIE you will see a brand new surname wiki page with lots of links to check out.

And in case any Australian FORGIEs read this...

Also, you can try this site. Just select IRELAND from the drop down list, then type in FORGIE and press SEARCH, and a whole lot of websites will come up for you to sift through... The Surname Navigator

Dear Alison,
Thanks for such a quick response, Brillant:)
Have been trawling the Australian sites with not much success, these links will make things alot easier I hope.
I do have distant cousins in NSW but are not really family history orientated, but hope they can help.
My great uncle emigrated in 1908 aged 19, but from what info I have received from one of my cousins never came home again, he was a very brave man as he went alone at such a young age.

For anyone researching family in Northern Ireland
I really good site is http://www.caora.net/ lots of really good stuff.

If I can help with lookups please contact me through this site.

Again Alison many thanks,
Best regards
from Northern Ireland

Dear Greg, Hi there. You are most welcome. Thank you for your generous offer of lookups for Northern Ireland.

My grandfather came to Australia when he was 16yrs old from England (some 20yrs after your g.uncle) and never saw his family again. Times were hard.

Regarding Aussie research, practically everything you need for research should be at this one website - Websites for genealogists by Cora Nunn - An Australian Gateway Site for Tracing your Family History

Cheerio, Alison.
