Searching for information on ancestors of Newton Mack Ganas of Lanier County, Georgia. Especially interested in family of Irene Griffis Ganas; Mary Mettie Ganas Penny and John E. Penny; as well as Jonathan Ed Ganas and Nannie Goolsby Ganas.

• Wife: Irene Griffis; Born August 30, 1910; Died March 2, 1974
• Children (2): Joe Mack Ganas; Born May 10, 1932; Died June 2000 AND Sarah Elizabeth Ganas; Born July 23, 1934; Died August 14, 1990

Newton Mack Ganas, my maternal great-grandfather; Born November 9, 1843 in Lakeland, Georgia
• Wife: Sarah Elizabeth Williams; Born 1850

o Benjamin Franklin Ganas (never married)
o Jane Ganas (never married), Died 1947

Thank you!! I am just getting started in my family research and this is very helpful! How are Benjamin Davis and Elizabeth Davis parents of Benjamin C. Ganas? Please also tell me where you found the information. I also need to find proof that Newton Mack Ganas was a Prisoner of War during the Civil War, held in a prison near Savannah, GA. Any suggestions?
