Looking for Golden of South Carolina to Georgia
William Golden and his wife Nellie came from Ireland before 1790 and settled in Edgefield, South Carolina. I know of two sons, Isaac Golden and Abraham Golden. Abraham is my great-grandfather and was born in SC in 1791. He and Isaac moved to Baldwin County, Georgia before 1820. Abraham moved to Monroe County and then to Marion County, Georgia where he is found in the 1850 Census. There were several other sons and daughters. Would love to have information on these siblings and Parentage of William and Nellie; and where they came from in Ireland. Will share with others of the family.
Related Surnames:
There is a theory in our family that William and Nellie Golden are the parents of our line's oldest known member: Nathaniel Green Golden (NGG), Sr.
We have done YDNA testing on five different male descendents from different branches of NGG so we have a very solid DNA signature to identify other parts of family.
We are currently testing a declared male descendent of Isaac Golden. We should have that test result by late September.
I do a lot of Golden family research. You can find me and my line at http://wdgolden.com/genes or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GoldenGenealogy
Let me know the results.
Test results are back and the descendant of Isaac Golden, who claims to be descended from William and Nellie, is an exact match to my line of Goldens.
My ggggrandfather, Nathaniel Greene Golden, born c1783 at Pickens, is therefore either a brother or a first cousin to Isaac of William and Nellie.
This would mean that this Golden family came to the USA probably before 1782.
Have found no reference to this Golden family coming from Ireland.
Best regards,
Bill Golden
