Looking for Harris Asher Ede New Zealand

I am looking for information on an illegitimate child of a Bertha Harris. Bertha was born in Nelson, New Zealand in 1884. She passed away in Auckland in 1958. Bertha was a colourful character, but appears to have borne an illegitimate child known as Tommy to a Thomas James Kumaramaoa Asher. The child appears to have been brough up until the age of 8 by his extended Maori family in the Wanganui/Pipiriki area. At this stage Bertha had married a Benjamin Ede and was living in the Wellington area. Bertha went to court to get the child back in 1912 and I lose track of the child at that point. Bertha's parents were Thomas and Florence Harris. If anyone can share or assist I would be grateful.

I have found that Bertha also called herself Bertha Dolly & also Bessie and who knows what else !

Yes, it takes a bit when you look through Papers Past to follow it, but she appears to be a lady of not the most upstanding character... But it makes her alot of fun to research.
