Looking for Hodkinson Lancashire

Possibly lived in the Audenshaw, Lancashire, area circa 1908, was believed to have been military. Was 'engaged' to Jessie Wilks Crowther but left her before their daughter Lilian Hodkinson Wilks Crowther was born in 1909. He was probably born in the mid 1880's. Possible he or member of his family contributed financially to Lilians education at a private school in the greater Manchester area.
