Looking for Hunter IN Scotland
I am looking for infromation on Mary HUNTER who married Alexander WALKER in Scotland. She had a brother Archibald and a sister Isabelle. Her father was Archibald HUNTER who married Elizabeth UNKNOWN. She and her husband had children John; Alexander; Joseph; Archibald; James; Elizabeth; Jean; and Isabelle. their son, John was my grandfather and he married Esther Neil who was born in Northern Ireland in 1905. He was born about 1904 and died 4-20-1969. his wife died 10-22-1963. Both died in Scotland in Glasgow I think.
I think we may have a connection! My Hunters were in Broxburn Uphall Linlithgow area from mid 1700S to late 1800s. John Anderson Hunter is my gGrandfather. He moved to Glasgow to build RR carriages. His Daughter Mary is my Grandmother. His brothers and sis. were named Grace,Mason, Isabella, Andrew. This is from an 1861 Scottish Census. This family was traditional in naming their children so I have noticed the same names for at least 4 generations. We also have Marion, Jane, Alison and Mary. Hope this helps.
I forgot to mention Archibald, and Alexander.There was a set pattern for naming so I can usually tell who the father, mother, and grandparents names were.
