Looking for Ibbetson IN New York

My grandfather was Joseph Ibbetson. He was married to Emma Coates and had two children, Joseph and Marie. He once told me that he was born on board a ship coming to the US, but so far I'm unable to find any information on him. I would love to find out who his parents were and where they lived after coming to the states from England.
