Looking for info on Eliza Ann Chambers of Mo. She married Issac McCoin abt. 1869. and died before 1900. Her mother was Bida Ann Whitehead Chambers and father was William Richard Chambers of Missouri.
Her mother Bida Ann married two more times after William Richards death, and was listed as a mulatto in one census and white in two others. People were listed as mulatto if not entirely white in census prior to 1880, including Native Americans living in a white household. I have a photo of a very Native looking woman taken around 1870 that my grandmother told me was her great grandmother who was a Cherokee. I didn’t ask her name, and now my grandmother has passed. I am trying to discern if this Native looking woman is Eliza Chambers McCoin.
