can we have a couple of names please Dave? and an approx year and which district they settled in etc :)
Sorry dont know any dates or names before my grandfather Albert lott who died in the 60s .Dunedin Otago is our home town.
ok, well Albert was the son of Abel William Lott (1855-1923), born in Faversham, Kent, England who left London for Dunedin 24 April 1874 on the William Davie (via Bluff) aged 20, arriving in June.
Abel married Mary Randall (1864-1941, also from England) in 1883 in NZ.
In 1893 Abel was on the Otakou School Committee
Their known children were:
1883 - 1972 William Robert Lott
1885 - 1971 Kate Lott
1886 - Jeanie Lott
1888 - 1907 Amy Lott
1890 - 1968 Edith Lott
1891 - 1964 Charles Lott
1898 - 1966 Albert Lott
Abel died 2 Jan 1923 at Hunt's Road, Owaka and is buried with his 18 year old daughter Amy at Port Chalmers cemetery
His widow Mary, remarried in 1929 to Frederick William Clothier (1859-1943)
Mary is buried with her 78 year old daughter Edith Eagleton, in Andersons Bay cemetery
* They were farming in Purakanui in 1907 when daughter Amy died in June aged 18 and when daughter Jeanie married Robert Tapp in July
* Mary also arrived in 1874 but because I cannot find a ships passenger list at this time for that particular voyage of the William Davie, I don't know if they arrived on the same ship
Wow thankyou that is so helpfully as i can find no records here in Dunedin. That gives me s great start. I only have my dad alive Allan lott he is 75 and is no help.
Hi Dave,
Have a look at Archway for the WW1 records for Albert Lott. There is helpful information there about him, his wife, date of marriage etc
Here's the link

Have a look at the Dunedin City Cemetery site. There is a headstone for Abel Lott. This headstone has information about his place of birth, ship and date of arrival in NZ. :)

Thank you all found his grave. Is there any info on any family still in England?
