I did some quick research and put a journal together for the family lines of Clara VENN. [journal=70443] In doing so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope other members researching this family line can assist with more details about this mysterious William LOCKLAND. With all honesty I have hit a brick wall.
Hello again Tonkin. Yes William has left a complicated trail. It is difficult to work out actually who fathered CLARA LOCKLANDS children. E.g Clara gave birth to five children,over a time of 7-8 years.In 5 different towns. WILLIAM LOCKLAND jr, birth Cert Number 18050 Victoria , states that his father WILLIAM LOCKLAND was born in Gawlor South Australia. Married to CLARA MILLICENT VENN on the 12 th October 1906 at MITCHAM SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
I have been told that CLARA'S parents had no knowledge of any W. LOCKLAND. Seeing that CLARA moved on several occasions it is a puzzle as to her connection with any relationship the LOCKLAND'S in Melbourne, in particalar ,WILLIAM HENRY LOCKLAND. ISLA LOCKLAND and BELLE LOCKLAND were born in Ararat while WILLIAM HENRY was over seas on active service in the First World War. Returning in 1916. I have been told WILLIAM LOCKLAND Sr left the family about 1916.Died in SOUTH AUSTRALIA 1920. No records to support this .
