Looking for Information on Josiah Townsend of Fayette County Ala

Josiah, according to family story was killed by Bushwhakers after the civil War. His 2 sons were found by George Washington Smith. He delivered one of the boys to relatives in Logan County Arkansas (who had moved there after the war) the other child was gored by a cow and died. George Washington Smith married into the Townsend family in Logan County Arkansas. I am trying to find out what happened to Joshia and who his wife was.
