Dear Sharyn, Hi. Welcome to FamilyTreeCircles. I did a search of the NSW bdm indexes online and also the QLD Historical Indexes for possible marriage.

Found nothing in NSW.

In Queensland, I found a record that in 1905 bride Jessie Ann YOUNG (Reg.No.1905/C1729) married Carl August Christian VOSS.

Perhaps not the information you were after, but sometimes people re-married.

Tip: The more info you can include in your journal, the better. Relationship to the person you are seeking info about, their spouse, and/or children's names, whom they married, where they lived, any bdm dates, etc.

Editor from Sth East QLD.

Jessie Ann Young was my aunt she married Carl August Christian Voss and lived in Howard Qld, I am looking for any information on their family especially their children who will be my cousins.
Jessie was born in Yorkshire 1880 to Thomas Young and Elizabeth Beattie. I am looking for and relatives to these people.

Thanks
Sharyn

Found one long-lost (dearly departed probably though) cousin..

Charles August VOSS born 1906 Queensland (Birth Registration No.C11590). Parents: Carl August Christian VOSS and Jessie YOUNG.

Queensland Historical Indexes online. Launch the online historical index search tool...

Jessie YOUNG should be found with her family on the 1891 Census for England. Goto RootsChat register as a new user, free site, then post a new topic in the lookup request area for Yorkshire.

Unfortunately, in my records I don't as yet have any details on a Carl August Christian VOSS so don't know where he links into my VOSS tree.

Hi Is Carl August Voss your relative, it is great to finally find someone from the Voss side of the family, we were very close to Aunty Jess, but unfortunately we only saw her a couple of times a year, I can only remember her in her old age when her husband had died and the children had left home, I can remember her talking about a Minnie Voss, I take it that would be her daughter, I think she married a Kerr not sure though. I have been doing genealogy for about 15 years and have come to a complete halt with this side of my family. I would be willing to share what I have.

Thanks
Sharyn

Dear Sharyn, Hi. When we need to further information in our trees, sometimes the only way to do it is to purchase birth, death and marriage certificates. Prior to doing this though, check with the older family members to see what paper copies are about.

Until I know the parents names of your Uncle Carl (or even siblings), I am unable to know where he fits into the bigger picture of the Voss family in Queensland and New South Wales, Australia.

Death Certificates usually reveal much more information but are only as reliable as the informant at the time of the party's death.

I have been doing our family tree since 1980 when I was a teenager.

Thanks,
Alison.

Hi there,

I was curious about the names being used on here. I found this site when I was bored googling great-grandparents names at work. :)

My name is Matthew Young. Born in Howard, Queensland. My Grandparents are Ronald Young and Madeline Young (nee Hewlett) from Howard. Ronald's parents were Tom Young and Minnie Young (my great grand parents). They even have a memorial hall named after them in Howard which now houses the town library. I believe that Tom had another two sons, Reggie and Barry Young. What do you think the likelihood is that this is all connected? I have to say that I haven't heard of the Voss side of things, but when I saw the name 'Minnie' mentioned, this was too much of a coincidence.

Cheers
Matt
