I am looking for information on John Cooper, born circa 1801 in Lancashire England. He was convicted of Highway Robbery and sent to Van Diemans Land (Tasmania, Australia) in 1823 on the Sir Godfrey Webster. He married Lucy Falconbridge in Hobart and they had children Emma, Charles, James, Joseph, William and Lucy.

Have a look through here to see if records already exist for your ancestor. Tasmania Resources - Emigrants to Australia board - RootsChat.com.

If not, go back to the Australia Family History Discussion to post a lookup request to see if rootschatters can find your COOPER and FALCONBRIDGE family.

Lots of Rootschatters have the old Pioneer Indexes on cd-rom for Tassie ... and there should be heaps of data on convict records.
