Looking for John Savage

he was my great grandfather. his son john joseph was my grandfather. i always heard they came from yorkshire but after searching i cannot find them. my uncle said they lived in birmingham. which is right.? john married a lady with surname knight. she had been married before and had 3 children, charles ,harry and rose. she was supposed to have come from oldham. u.k. i need help as i have been searching for years now.john joseph had some more siblings at least 2 sisters.
