Looking for Joseph and Winnifred Wells Lee of North Carolina

I am trying to find a joseph lee and his wife winnifred wells of nash or edgecombe counties, north carolina. I have found a little about her family but can find nothing on him. I have no dates for his birth or death. Their child that is my line is matilida lee who married richard burton "bert" winstead. any help would be appreciated.
