Thank you Janilye for all that work. I am looking for family who we have lost contact with to attend a Lycett Family Gathering on 7th January 2017 in Sydney. Specificially I am chasing descendants of Ethel Lycett who married Lance Northey and descendants of Herbert Lycett through his only daughter Olivette (Olga), who married 3 times. We have contact details for most of the other descendants. Alfred and Edith had 9 children, but only 5 had issue.

Thank you. It is very frustrating as everybody thinks it is so far in the future they aren't bothered but unless we get them rounded up soon it will be too late for them to plan. We have people coming from England and New Zealand already and that takes planning in advance. I know there are more people in New Zealand and in the Perth area but I don't know how to contact them. The Northey descendants are around Sydney as far as I can ascertain but I am not having any luck. I was trying to figure out who the Mr. and Mrs. K Hunt was in the funeral notices but that was Olga's second husband. She was raised by Alfred and Edith when her mother died after an abortion as, sadly, she didn't want any more children. Her father remarried to the wicked stepmother. I am only in contact with one of her children who is lovely but very airy fairy and I can't pin her down for information or contacts. There seems to have been some sort of distancing from the Northeys and the only descendant I have found so far lost her husband late last year so isn't up to helping me at this stage. Thanks again for your help Kay
By the way, the son Kent was really a son, not a brother. He was born in New Zealand, and was about a month old when they came to Sydney and he died not long after that.

I have the whole article and even his mug shot when he went to jail for 6 months with hard labour aged 59. We think he must have had a real presence as well as being a "gentleman" to con as many people as he did as there are many Trove articles about people suing him, trying to bankrupt him, etc. He came up with a new way of manufacturing salt so he was fairly clever. He and his wife's families were both salt manufacturers in Cheshire, England. Salt mining was a thriving industry in Winsford, where his wife came from and there is still a working salt mine there to this day. However, salt became less important by the late 1890s so he had to find something else to do and doesn't seem to have successfully made the transition to anything else productive. Very sad.
