Looking for Maberry Hitt Please Help

Hi, I'm Renee Ryan, looking for my gggrandfather on my mother's side-Maberry Hitt. Supposedly born in 1823 in Laurens County, SC; cannot confirm. Definitely was in the civil war; have papers. On census in 1880 in Blount Co, AL, close to where I live, but I cannot confirm where he died or where he is buried. Please help if you have any info.
