Alice Beatrice MAI whose mother was Mary Eliza DALLISON (Bulls or known as Rangitikei initially, was born 1890 either Feilding or Pohangina. We have not been able to locate birth date. Alice died 10 December 1966 in Palmerston North and has been uried in Ashhurst Cemetery - Block 10 Plot 3.

Her father - Matthias Petersen MAI born 9/3/1864 and died 20/5/1946.
Her mother - Mary Eliza DALLISON born12/9/1870 and died 8/9/1935.

We are wondering if she was registered as a DALLISON initially. Alice became a missionary in India and then returned to New Zealand to look after her parent before moving to Upper Hutt to house keep for a Mr BENGE.

Hello Malcolm,

Alice was named Alice Beatrice Dallison MAI and was born on the 20th December 1890

Do you know which Benge she was housekeeper for ?

malcolm_lind

Thanks for that Ngairedith. Her parents wedding date and where would also be helpful if known.

Mr Benge was always known as such but his nephew Ivan Benge lives at Foxton Beach. Have asked Mother if she remembers but at 85 she is beginning to forget.

Matthias Petersen MAI married Mary Eliza DALLISON on 2 January 1890

Exactly where I have not yet found but their children attended the Pohangina School

POHANGINA is 48km west of Bulls, Rangitikei District via FEILDING which is about central to both towns

Thanks for that date. The Dallison family came from Bulls and we are assuming that it may have been Bulls.

What we dont know is where Alice was born. The next family member Mary was born in Feilding (1892)then Thomas in Ashhurst (1894) Claus in the Pohangina Valley (1895) and Sylvia in Silverhope Marton (1896).

My Grandfather was Claus Harold MAI above.
