Looking for Mcintosh of Canada New York

I am researching my 2nd Great Grandparents Ephraim McIntosh b: Abt. 1816/17 Canada, his wife Mary Ann Phillips b: Abt. 1820 New York. Also would like to know if his parents were John Alexander McIntosh b: Abt. 1777 New York, his wife Hannah Doran b: 1782 New York, also the siblings, birth dates, birth places.

I seem to find a lot of conflicting information on siblings and dates.

It is my understanding that my 3rd Great Grandfather John Alexander McIntosh is the discoverer of the McIntosh Apple. "Johnny Appleseed"
Can anyone confirm this?
