Looking for McMenamin of Philadelphia

Query by rkraft

looking for family of James McMenamin of Philadelphia. My G.Grandfather he lived on Hazzard St and died at home. He was an conductor for Rail Road and wife was Katherine Henry. He was born May 1863 in Pennsylvania died April 19/1905 at age 42 and He is buried in Section J Block 4 Lot 36 (a plot owned by Patrick McMemamin) at the New Cathedral Cemetery in Phila.

1900 Census records show his father to be born in Delaware(-don't know if state or Co of Pennsylvania) Mother born in Pennsylvania. I not sure of her name. I don't know his connection to Patrick and I haven't been able to find his parents. There are eight (8) Mcmenamin memebers buried in the same section. They are:

Annie March 1882 Buried 9/30/1882 .7 md
James May 1863 Buried 4/19/1905 42 yr
Joseph 1876 Buried 3/5/1900 24 yr
Margaret 1893 1/20/1956 63 yr
Raymond 1894 11/16/1968 74 yr (Margaret and Raymond are buried at W/M-- Spouse??)
Margaret * 1849 10/24/1914 65 yr
Patrick * 1838 2/16/1905 67 yr Patrick born in Ireland *Margaret & Patrick buried at 2/E
William 1875 7/14/1955 79 yr

There seems to be a big connection since My Grandfather and his brothers carried the names James, Joseph, William and Raymond.

I have looked at James's death record.

He died 15 April 1905 and the burial was the 19th Apr 1905 in New Cathedral Cemetery

It states both parents were born in Ireland but does not give thier names

I cannot read James place of birth but it look like Camden (poss New J)

It states he was married at the time of his death but does give spouses name.

At time of death he was 41 yrs 11 mons 4 days old does not give birth date

1900 United States Federal Census
Name: James Mcmenaman
Age: 34
Birth Date: May 1866
Birthplace: Pennsylvania
Home in 1900: Philadelphia Ward 31, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Race: White
Gender: Male
Relation to Head of House: Head
Marital Status: Married
Spouse's Name: Katie Mcmenaman
Marriage Year: 1894
Years Married: 6
Father's Birthplace: Delaware (states Ireland on deth reg)
Mother's Birthplace: Pennsylvania (states Ireland on deth reg)

James Mcmenaman 34

The only other difference is the surname Spelt McMenamin on the death reg.

So the question is which is the right place of birth for James's parents

I too have found this 1870 Census but I have no way to know it is my greatGrand father and his family for sure. My Grand father Raymond was only 4 when he died and I knew nothing of his father or any other family except his Mother Katie Henry McMenamin and My Great Uncles (his brothers) James, Joseph and William and a baby the died at birth that was Edward.

I also don't know why the spelling was Mcmenaman on the 1900 Census but I have found variations on the Census records so I guess the person writing spelled the best they could.

Thanks for your help I need all I can get.
