Looking for Morgan family information from Greenville SC.

Query by Dematt

Grandfather worked for JP Stevens and moved to VA when they expanded. I think it was in the early 50's. Looking for any info. I think the info on his obit is incorrect.

His name was William Spurgeon Morgan, he passed in 1966, he was married to Alma Gilliland Morgan. Four children, obit only listed three. William S Jr, Jack David, Peggy Vaughan, and a sister who died young from TB named Dorothy. Father was listed as John Augusta Morgan. Obit had his wife listed as his mother and said that he was married to the former Miss Emma Tinsley so I don't know if that was his mother or not. I don't know anything about his family at all.

My grandfather was Clarence L Morgan who was a brother to your grandfather. There parents were John Augustus Morgan and Emma Tinsley . They were orginially from Brevard North Carolina Dunn's Rock area. John Augustus parents were Henry Lewis Morgan who was born in south Carolina And Jane Ashworth who was born in North Carolina.
John Augustus Morgan worked at Monaghan Mill. He and Emma are buried at Monaghan Mill cemetery in Greenville, SC. along with 1 of their daughters.John came from a large family of brothers and sisters. Most of the children all left and moved to south Carolina from north Carolina. Most lost touch with each other. When John Augustus passed away he was at the funeral home with one of his brothers who died on the same day he did . They did not realize they were brothers until the families were there. I am very rarely on the website but just ran across your post. You are welcome to email me at pcorlew44@aol.com and I will give you all I know. I learned the most from my uncle and dad which are passed away now.
