Did your Mr. Reynolds live in Missouri all of his life? do you have a date of birth or maybe an estimate? Can you tell me any names of the children or dates of birth? It would help when to locate the right one. Did they move around the country or stay in Missouri? Any help would do but I will see what I can find. It may not be or it may be, only you can answer that. smith41
I have consulted a friend in the government and he told me that depending on where he was adopted. I suspected Missouri. Missouri does not have an open adoption records. Prior to a new law that became effective Aug 28, 2011 Missouri adoptees were required to obtain permission from both their biological and adopted parents. Adult adoptees no longer need the permission of their adopted parents. If the adoptees birth parents are deceased, the adult adoptee can request identifying information from the circuit court that had the original jurisdiction in their adoption. Finally descendants of the deceased adoptee can request and secure "non-identifying information about their biological grandparents, such as the age of parents, when the adoptee was born, the parents occupationsm and where the parents lived. For more information use the Adoption Information Registry, a service of the Missouri Department of Social Services. For information about adoptions occurring prior to 1917, Check with the office of Recorder of Deeds in the adopted Childs county of residence. Also they had what they call an Orphan Train Adoptions. During the years 1854- 1929. The Children's Aid Society of New York, sent 100,000 children from the streets of New York to find new homes with families in the Midwest. Many were adopted by the families. Get in touch with the Orphan Train Heritage Society of America, Inc and National Orphan Train Complex, at P.O. Box 322 Concordia, Ks 66901, the phone # is (785) 243-4471.
If you know where he was adopted in Missouri ? then contact that state or that county, and tell them what you do know about him and see if they can locate the records. It shouldn't cost anything and it may bring some answers. I cannot do it since I am not kin, but you can or who ever is next of kin they can request the records. They should be able to tell you what you want to know. If you need any more help, just let me know. If you can't find the birth parents, then you might find a genealogist who specializes in adoption records. Go online to find that county if you know it of where he was born, and then if you don't know then contact the state of Missouri or capital of Missouri and they might can tell you just how to go about getting the records. Thanks for letting me try to help. smith41
