yes, thank you, I am trying to trace back to William Cullen Bryant. The only information I have found on James C. Bryant, however, is an 1880 census that states he was living in Illinois in 1880 and was born in Kentucky. If I could find his parents' names, I might complete the link to William Cullen Bryant, and from there to the Snell family to John Alden.
