Thank you very much. Do you have any information on my father's ( John Arthut Philp) siblings? He was the son of George Arthur Philp, born 1880, and I am particularly interested in the legitimacy of his youngest brother, Allan George Philp, because it appears that he was born some long time after his father, George Arthur, left home.
Unclle Cecil Stephenson Philp was married twice, his first wife died and they had a son, Brian. He married again laterin life. Winifred died as a child due to a tragic accident . Constance Mary was known to me as Auntie Margie. Allan George was my father's youngest brother and was probably born in South Shields, Co.Durham. I believe that he was probably illegitimate! I don't understand what you mean by the last line of your message.
It's actually my daughter's surname. She reverted to the original family name before her grandfather changed to an English name. The name originated in France and has been traced back to one Sebastian Ledeux from the early 18th century!
Would like info on:- Silvester Gregory Wherly or (Wherley) born around 1839 , North Shields. Charles W S Goodger, born about 1857, possibly Darlington. Florence Mesenson, born about 1860 . Sarah Waistell Sarah Sayer. One of the Sarahs married Silvester Wherly, who was born 1812 in Germany.
I think I am a descendant of George Arthur Philp. His daughter was Constance Philp who married George Naylor. One of this sons, Derek Naylor, is my father.
Yes. My grandmother (Nana) was Constance Isabella Wherly, married George Arthur Philp. She had a daughter, Costance Margaret Naylor who had three or four sons, one being, your father, Derek! I used to watch my Nanna play cards with her grandsons (including your father). My Nanna was quite a card sharp, playing for half pennies and invariably winning!! I was born in South Shiekds in 1944 and live in Berkshire now. It would be fun to keep in touch.
Yes, I think so, as his mother, Auntie Margie, was my aunt! I live in Bracknell and had dinner at a friend's flat in High Wycombe last night. I have two English friends who live in Taiwan staying with me at the moment.
