Looking for Richard Morrison of Texas Served IN Ww2

My cousin was born in Feb 1944. Her mother was a New Zealander & biological father a USA Marine who served in the Pacific & spent R&R in New Zealand. His name was Richard Morrison & we believe he came from Texas. My cousin was subsequently adopted & she would very much like to know what happened to Richard. Did he survive the war & return to the USA or was he killed? Any help with this quest would be appreciated.
