Looking for Ryman IN Monroe County Pennsylvania
August(us) RYMAN exists in the 1850 and 1860 census, and I'm trying to find out where he came from, and what happened to him between 1861 (year of birth of the Rymans' last child) and 1870, when he can no longer be found in the Monroe County census.

Can;t verify it, but August(us)Ryman was born 1819 in Germany, married Elizabeth Von Lehman, immigrated to US. The following information is verified: the Rymans settled in Jackson Twp, Monroe Co, USA, and had 5 children. Christianne (AKA Christian, Annie) b. 1852, Ernest (my great-grandfather) b. 1856, Ellen b. 1858, Charles b 1860, according to the 1960 census, and then George b. 1861. Sometime between 1861 and 1869, August disappears. Elizabeth remarried to William Starner Dec 20,1869. She was killed at home by a lightning strike in spring of 1870. 1870 census finds Christianne, Ernest, Ellen, and Charles living with their stepfather, Wm. Starner. The baby, George lives with the neighboring Butz family, and continues to live there until adulthood. Thanks for taking an interest in this!
