Looking for Some Geaneys Wherever You Are
Hello folks!
Well, its simple! I am looking for Geaneys far and wide! Especially those with known links to Ireland where the name has its origin, but that said all are welcome!
I'll just give ye all a little bit about myself. My name is Joanne (Geaney obviously) I'm 18 and I call County Cork in Ireland home although I'm currrently studing in Scotland. No real reason for all this research, im just interested in my family history.
Hope to hear from ye soon,
Joanne

Hi Joanne. My name is Sean Geaney and I'm from Sydney Australia. I haven't made it to Cork yet but when I travelled through Europe two years ago I managed to meet some Geaney's in County Kerry where I had lunch in Dingle at Paul Geaney's bar and grill. Great people.
At the moment I am researching my Great Great Grandfather Stephen Geaney who was born in County Cork and died in Australian in 1920. He married a Mary Lee who I am presuming was born in Australia.
I am also trying to dig anything up on Stephen's father "Humphrey Geaney 1836-1886", Humphrey married a Bridget Murphy. Both I presume passed away in Cork as I have found no Australian records on them.
If you have any information on my ancestors or any tips on researching Irish archives it would be greatly appreciated. Who Knows we might be related.
Thankyou,
Sean
A cousin of my mother (Berenece Dickson nee Kenny) was Fr. Humphrey Geaney living in New Zealand and by now certainly passed away. His father was also Humphrey Geaney. So research New Zealand.
