Looking for the Mulroy Family Tree

My Great grand father's sir name was Mulroy, he was a whaler or sealer and he Jumped ship and settled in the Chatham Islands, New Zealand. He changed his name to Whare Tuanui and married Ngahiwi Dix. I would really like to know where that name (Mulroy) originated from so I can start my research.
