Looking for the Parents of John Bell Grimes

He is my Great-Great Grandpa on my dad's mother's side. He was born Dec. 1, 1865 in Williamson, Illinois and died Feb. 8, 1899.

My dad said John Bell was not forth-coming about his background and would not tell people where he was from. I know he is Native American and I also heard about his wife dying i think in child-bit=rth; and john Bell would carry the child on his back as a papoose while working in the field.

Any Info would be greatly appreciated. my Grandma always wanted to do a family tree, but she passed away before she could do one and now I am trying to do it. I am thinking about turning our family tree into a book along with stories from the olden days; and I would dedicate it to Grandma and all of our ancestors.
