Looking for the parents of Peter Gunsolley

Query by GeneBallantyne

Peter Gunsolley and wife Abigail Faunce, are my great-great-grandparents. Peter came from Geauga County, Ohio, to Illinois/Iowa as part of the Mormon migration in about 1836. His last name may come from Consaulis, Gonsaulis, Consaulis-Duk, or Gonsaulis-Duk. Peter may have been from the upstate Dutch counties of New York. The family name may have originally been Gonzalez and have been started in the Netherlands by people (Jews?) expelled from inquisition-dominated Spain.

I am also a decendant of Peter Gunsolley and am interested in his siblings and parents. Did you get any responses?

Me, too (a decendant) -- my maiden name is Gunsolley. However, I do not believe that anyone knows for sure where/when Peter was born or where/when he died and is buried. The only photo I have ever seen of him is when he is older (and he looks strikingly like my father and grandfather).
