Tonkin. Thank you for replying. I have a copy of William George and Matilda Dora Smith's marriage certificate but it doesn't provide his parents names. On my grandfather's birth certificate if gives William Georges birthplace as Rockhampton, Qld, I've searched Queensland & NSW birth/death/marriages but no luck. Thank you.
That's strange.
Did the marriage certificate name Matilda's parents?
How old was William George SMITH when he died?
Need a few clues to follow.

That's all I have found out about him. I've only started looking in the last six months.
Thank you
Hi Masterg, I'm a descendent of Alfred. I too have drawn a blank on William, although I a family tree drawn up by my late grandfather lists his date of death as June, 1901. Matilda remarried a man named Wakerley. Hope this helps!
Thank you Ilonevale
A few months ago, I start searching again and found Matilda Dora's grave in Brisbane. She was buried in the same grave as her daughter Margaret's husband Neil. I found Margaret and Neil's children' births but haven,t looked any further.
My grandfather and Claude are buried in Gympie. My family live in Brisbane and our coursins and Claude's greatchildren still live in Gympie.
I'm down in Tamworth this week but would be interested in following up more with you when I return home....if you are interested
Thank you
