Are you sure of the spelling TUKU? there was Te PUKU / PUKU sometimes recorded as Te PUKE / PUKE family in the WAIROA area. In my search for ancestors there is this name. My G.G.Grandfather was Tiemi TePUKU / Te PUKE.
There is quite a few in the Waikawa land documents.
Good luck with trying the new spelling and see if yo can get anywhere.
