Looking for William or Leonard Tarrant who migrated to US colonies in late 1600's

Query by flomariet

I found a William Tarrant, son of Edward and a Leonard Tarrant, son of Leonard born in London In Olave district . Leonard born in 1640 and William in 1654. The fathers were evidentally brothers. My first dealings with Leonard Tarrant was one born in Essex Co. Virginia in 1713.d.1799. I believe this is the family line I'm looking for. My line so far is Leonard, Leonard, Benjamin, John, Richard, Elam, Clark, Hugh Tom, Billy Joe. Some of the folks in my family thought we decended from the William that was in Fenwick Colony,NJ, but not so as far as I can tell. Also some thought we came from the Penton Mowrey Tarrants of Bishop cannings in Wiltshire, Eng. After going over all the christenings, marriages and deaths, I found no sigh of any Leonards. The naming patterns did not fit
