Query by familybird

I've been researching descendants of William SELLERS and Agnes MCKENZIE who were married in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia in December 1840. My only problem is that I don't know where William and Agnes came from ...

There's a couple of things I need to know. Is it Sellars or Sellers?
Did he die in NSW?

William and Agnes were my great great grandparents. I do not know where they came from either but I do know they made a life for themselves in Tasmania which is where they both died.

William was a mariner who become a publican once the children started coming along. I had a bit of info about their life in Tasmania if you need it.

Hi janilye! Sellers is the family name, but sometimes it has been spelt Sellars. William Sellers died in Hobart, Tasmania in 1860.

Hi CindyEllen! William and Agnes are my husband's great-great-grandparents, too!! How fascinating! He is descended from James, their youngest son. I also have some information if you wish to swap? Please let me know.

Hi Familybird,

Even more fascinating as I am descended from James (the lighthouse keeper)as well! My grandfather was Alfred Ernest. I have some certificates and photos of Alfred and of his sister Violet. Got James and Agnes's wills as well. I also have a family story about the sort of man he was - passed down from daughter Violet.

Do you know anything about James' wife Emma Jane Turner?

Seems like we will have much to discuss!

My email if you would like to contact me directly is c.perry@unsw.edu.au

Cheers

Cindy
