Lovells Arrival IN Nelson Nz 1842 on the Ship Lord Auckland

I have often wondered about my Lovell side, my father having married Joan Emily Lovell - her mother having been an Akroyd. I have found it amazingly interesting to trace the Lovells back to Henry Lovell and to find out he lived all his life in the Nelson area. Then a couple of days ago I got back into my research after a very long time and I am now researching whether James Lovell, who married a Sarah Fletcher after his first wife died, is father to my Henry Lovell.
I need to go on Births Deaths and Marriages NZ 100 years ago and see what I can find. I am so excited.

Well I spent almost a whole day doing research and find my Henry Lovell is way too old to be the son of James & Sarah Lovell. What a shame. My Henry Lovell married Salome Palmer in Nelson and probably didn't spend all his life in Nelson although he is registered as marrying and being buried there. I cannot find when or how he arrived in New Zealand. I did read on someone else's blog about the Palmer family that he was a labourer and considered to be beneath Salome in social status. Could he have come from Australia? Could he have been a convict? Much more research needed. What fun.
