Hello Kaye
I have just started a family search and came across your name through I am researching my grandfather's line. His name was Paul Gordon Lugar born in Illinois 1909. His parents were Charles C. Lugar and Nettie Gordon Lugar. His grandparents were Giles M. Lugar and Rhoda Mills. Some of the details of his past are a bit vague. I would love the opportunity to contact you to hopefully obtain some of the missing pieces.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you for your time

I'm doing some research on the Lugar family for the Daughters of the American Revolution. The only thing I need is proof that Alexander Lugar, b. 19 Mar 1818, d. 17 Jan 1887, is the son of Barnabas Lugar, b. 1790, d. 1858.

Alexander was born in Giles, Virginia and died in Shelbyville, Illinois. His father Barnabas was born in Montgomery, Virginia, and died in Grant, Indiana.

Does anyone have any information or source suggestions?

To my knowledge no on has found a will for Barnabas 'Barney' Sr. Lugar, born Jan 1783, Montgomery Co., Virginia. Aside from that what proof does the DAR need? I know that in the past they have accepted the books "Descendants of Adam Lugar", and "More Descendants of Adam Lugar", by Twila Lugar Graves. Both books are out of print, but I have the original typed copy of the first book, and a copy of the second book in print format. If there is anything in the books that would or could be of help please email me. I typed both books for my grandmother, Twila Lugar Graves, as well as helped with the research. I continue to work on the family still today. Please let me know if there is anything that you might need.

In response about DAR, for some reason they don't have a copy of the book. When someone applies for membership, all they send is a copy of a page as proof, and where they get that I honestly don't know. I've searched DAR records, and we have many approved applicants but none of them go through Alexander Lugar. I spoke to our Omaha Chapter Genealogist, Sande Spicer, and she said that I would need whatever page(s) that cited Barnabas Lugar (1790) as the father of Alexander Lugar (1818), a copyright page that includes the title of the book, and the date.

I appreciate your help. Sande asked if you have extra copies of the books or where we could find them. I told her it's not possible.

In any case, I really appreciate your help.
