Mary Hoag M John Griffin IN Troy New York
I'm searching for the parents of Mary HOAG, b.17 Jun 1798 in Pittstown, Columbia, New York. Some say her father was Abraham, but I find so many Abraham HOAGs with daughters named Mary born within a year of her birth that it's confusing. I need proof.
She m. John GRIFFIN b.29 Mar 1795 in Lee, Berkshire, MA in 1816 in Troy, New York and they have the following children: William H., Henry G., James M., Sarah, Huldah G., Mary E., Septimus, and George. I descend from Huldah.
She was a Quaker and our family has a black bonnet and a cape that belonged to her...they are precious to us.
Loved ones wrote a poem for her 89th birthday party in 1887 and I have a copy of it that I will be happy to share. This poem points out that she did weaving for her family and for others...I have a small piece of a sheet that she wove.
Hi, I'm wondering if you received my previous message. I have LOTS of information about the Hoag family, including Mary's parents. She was my 3-great grandmother. I am tickled to learn that she was a Quaker and I would love to read the poem written for her birthday party.
I hope you are still around. I was hoping to get this information. I am related to the Griffins but I have been trying to fill in Mary's information. I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I have my information on familysearch.org along with a lot of other folks. Give that a try! Delores
A poem, what a sweet remembrance. Genealogy can be so rewarding.
