Mcleod of Braemar

I am currently blogging the WW1 diary of my grandfather, John Duncan McLeod. While born in New Zealand he fought for Australia and kept a diary of his experiences. I am posting these entries plus extras one hundred years after he wrote them.
I am looking for the origins of his father, Malcom McLeod who emigrated to New Zealand from Scotland in 1879.
