Does anyone have any info on this man ? I think he went to the Ballarat gold fields in the late 1800s. He was married to honaria quinlan

ngairedith on 2014-10-02 18:12:18Michael Finnessy O'Brien (1836-1910) was born in Munster, Eire, a son of Timothy O'Brien & Ann Finnessy. He had a brother, Patrick Finnessy O'Brien (1849-1932) who also came to NZ, married Jane Mary O'Keefe in Westport in 1880, both dying in Auckland
Michael married Honora Quinlan (1836-1930) in Melbourne in 1866, a daughter of Benjamin Quinlan & Margaret Curtain

Michael also had a sister Catherine born in Ireland daughter of Timothy O'Brien farmer and Anne O'Brien nee Finnessy She also travelled to Westport where she married Michael McMahon in 1871 at Westport Catholic Church. Michael McMahon butcher is mentioned as the witness in the marriage of Patrick O'Brien and Jane O'Keefe. They had two children Timothy Edward McMahon Oct 29 1874 Charleston, West coast and Catherine McMahon (O'Gorman) - May 1872 Charleston, West Coast.
