My family line follows the Duxbury family of Lancashire.

Journal by gailten

Hi, I'm Gail and I live in Tenerife (Canary Islands)but I was born in UK. It seems to me that you are all either American or Australian users of this site. Are there any English out there?
My gt x grandfather was Christopher Duxbury (see the website 'A Duxbury family history) Many people can trace their lines back through the Duxbury's. One of my other gt grandfathers was James Hargreaves 1774-1830 whose family owned many of the colmines in the Burnley area of Lancashire. Bit of a rake really because he had 2 daughters from 2 different mistresses, while his poor wife had no children!
Also I have grandparents Croft who lived in Arkholme Lunesdale, formerly Yorkshire but now Lancashire. I can't get any further with that family line although I have had contact with one family who have the same line - but the details seem a bit muddled.
Living in Tenerife is difficult to get access to any records. Does this site have census, births, marriages, deaths access? I only stumbled across this site yesterday and it looks quite interesting.
I have been using Genes Reunited site which is ok but you have to pay for credits to gain access to records and it gets a bit expensive when you keep hitting the wrong record!
Love to hear from anyone out there. My family name is Astley
Many regards to you all
Gail

Dear Gail, Welcome.

This site of FamilyTreeCircles only has census, births, marriages and death access if provided in LINKS. Search in the top right-hand search field for one word: country or surname or locality. There's a Free BMD site that you can lookup.

I would recommend that you join up as a new user of RootsChat. It's a free site.

Even though you are not a 'beginner' in genealogy, read that section first and 'how to use rootschat'.

Then goto their England - General boards and post lookup requests.

I've been using GR for the past couple of years and it has done me well.

Make sure you make use of FamilySearch
