Do you have the marriage details for Daniel and Ellen? Will also help if you supply your grandmother's name and birth details to assist with record searches.
Sorry I gave you the wrong name. Daniel Ryan married Mary Magdalen Devane on 28 Dec 1867 in Sydney at St. Mary's Catholic Church. My grandmother was born 31 Mar 1894 at Orange (Kerr's Creek) NSW Australia. Their children were Ellen Mary, James, Mary Agnes, Teresa, John, Ada Margaret and Lillias Mary (my grandmother). Daniel was born about 1839/40 in Tipperary, Ireland. I want to know more about his parents and the Devane side. Thanks Marina
Mary Magdalen DEVANE I think was the daughter of John and Ellen DEVANE. Like the Ryan's they also came from County Tipperary. There were brothers, Denis and John Joseph DEVANE and I think the oldest brother was Cornelius William. Cornelius came out first, around 1862, then a couple of years later the parents and the rest of the family arrived. John Joseph worked on the railways. Kerr's Creek
Hi Mad 53, my great grandfather was Timothy Devane, eldest son of Johm and Ellen Devane. Timothy was born in Tipperary Ireland in 1841. He is the brother of your grandmother Mary. Ironically Ellen Devane's maiden name was Ryan. Not sure what the connection is there yet to Daniel Ryan, but still looking into that. After lengthy and complicated research, it appears John Devane was transported as a convict for 14 years. More info if you're still interested :)
Always interested. I have found it hard to find more Devanes and very hard finding info from Ireland. As you can imagine there would be 1000s of Ryans in Ireland. Mary was my great grandmother and my grandmother was the youngest child (Lilias Mary) and born at Kerr's Creek, NSW. I have lots more. I didn't know John Devane was transported. Any info is appreciated. My family is listed on Ancestry under the name of Fioravanti. Yes, I'm a bitsa. My father's family were all Italian, he was born in the USA.
Welcome mad53.
