Looking for parents and sources for N B Rains, b. abt. 1847 VA.. living in Sunflower Co. MS in 1870. His son, my great grandfather was born there in 1876, George Washington Rains, who died in Upshur Co. TX.

(adopted to Manning or Lancaster family), George Washington, b.10-04-1876 to 4-15-1973 2nd wife: Rachel Hampton children: Claude Vernon b.3-13-1892 to 01-18-1952, James Robert b.10-10-1889 to 7-24-1934 (my grandfather) and Ivy ? b.1889
There is a N.B. Rains listed as a Private in Confederate Army 1861-1865 4th Virginia Infantry Company C (same person?)
I do not have any information beyond the birth date of my great grandfather Napoleon Bonaparte Rains.
Could you share your source for the possible adoption of "Katy O.". Also, my cousins and I have found that George Washington Rains, my great grandfather's mother was Rachel A. Sapp, not Rachel Hampton, easily thought. Napoleon and Rachel's sons were George W.,-+ Claude and James Robert.
