New Zealand Chinese Preface

edmondsallan - Good morning - When we look at our country and see the many races that have blended into our culture successfully for some unknown reason we seem to forget the great part the " Chinese " have played in also developing our wonderful country . Many of you are possibly like me have the odd chinese friend ( especially in my he-day at competitive table tennis )and I have done business , very large and small , with them many times before I retired from the business world . They are a very honorable race in every way ( especially in business )and they expect the same of you . I rather like that , in life - play it straight or not at all . and sometimes in life with all its curly trip ups , that can make it very hard to stay on line . At times I have wondered how did this come about and shine through in the chinese community who when they first arrived in NZ were treated very badly by our fellow country men ancesters My curiosity,my brain that seems to work these days at 1/2 speed , my desire to know more about the chinese in New Zealand has started to move my hands & fingers onto the keys of this modern invention - the computer and put in to print what I am still learning on this journey of NZ early settlers , these particular , hard working , industrious people - the " Chinese " Some of you may have the same outlook and want to know more . If you do , just let me make a cuppa - get " old faithful " to give me a hand . I'll tell "" thee cat " her walkies will be later ( gosh she must have been listening . Her tail is bang bang on the floor - hmmmm I wonder what she is saying !!! to me ) and then we will get started in the next journal
