I am a 60 year old school friend of someone I went to school with in Pahiatua at Tararua College between 1962-1965. I met my friend again after 42 years. We found each other via the internet ... thank goodness "sometimes" for technology, and live in Brisbane Australia. He/We always knew for all those years that he was asopted. He recently found out that his birth name was "Terry Thessman" from the Palmerston North/Ashhurst area.

I grew up in Woodville and was related to a racehorse family. This may seem odd that I am emailing you but he is my old high school boyfriend and we stay in contact with each other now and live only 10 minutes from one another.

He has told me of the not so long ago discovery of his origins, and did make contact with an aunt who told him a little but disconnected herself from any future contact.

I have also had similar issues with my own family from the Manawatu/Wairarapa area. My Dad's family were from Feilding/Bunnythorpe area. It was a wonderful thing to find family. The silly thing was that I lived in the same area of the Wairarapa and knew these people very well ... they were my relatives.
