Newells of Alabama

My name is Candy Campbell-Smith.. I am researching my lineage on paternal grandmother's side.. she tried to tell me all that she knew before she passed but, unfortunately that wasn't much. She did tell me that her father, E G Newell had married a woman in Georgia before marrying her mother in Alabama. This had been a family rumor for years, but I did find an actual marriage license between E G Newell and Oma Knowles in 1907, but I can find no proof of a divorce or any children. He married my Great Grandmother Dixie Goins in 1911.. I have been working on our tree and have hit a brick wall at my 3rd Great Grandfather, Alfred Newell.. I can find no record of his parents anywhere..
