Hi I'm looking for Newsletter 163, December 2003 which relates to the 1825-A case of attempted rape "Whatever the case not long after the screaming stopped the agitated Charlotte rushed into Elizabeth's home and stated that "the captain of the ship had attempted to take liberties with her." Charlotte, the daughter of John DIXSON and his partner Hannah STANLEY, was just 14 years of age and had only been married for around two and a half months having married Richard Colebane EDSALL on May 31, 1825. The EDSELL's were unusual neighbours as a little over 12 months later this young woman was charged with cutting and maiming her husband and at this time Elizabeth 's husband Thomas was called to make a statement.
